Take it easy or go all out, no timing.
The first event of the season, the Metropolitan Challenge is for those who love to ride and who, depending on their fitness and mood of the day, can choose to take it easy or go all out on an untimed route of about 60 to 140 kilometres on roads open to traffic.
Each year, the event visits a new corner of the greater metropolitan area.

Riding well
What to bring
Don’t forget your bib. For the ride, bring:
- a water bottle;
- a few snacks or a picnic;
- a piece of ID and a little money;
- a lock, if you plan to leave your bike.
Wear comfortable clothes suited to the weather and bring a raincoat: events take place rain or shine. Vélo Québec strongly recommends wearing a helmet.
Tips on the road and services offered
Bike mechanic volunteers (red T-shirt with a wrench) help you for free all along the route; you only pay for parts. First aid volunteers also ride the route.
Young people aged 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Write a phone number on the inside of your child’s bib.
Bikes allowed
All types of bikes are accepted, including tandems and electric-assist bikes (500-watt motor and 35 km/h maximum). Pedal scooters and electric unicycles are prohibited, as are animals on the route (except in a basket or bike trailer).
